Update From Wadena – 10/19/2026

2 weeks to go

A very successful Fish Fry Town Hall in Yellow Medicine County at Memorial Park in Granite Falls, MN.

I believe it is fair to say we won our debate with our current Congressperson Thursday night. Appreciate all the support & feedback. It was felt.

There have been multiple milestones on this campaign. Pivotal opportunities & moments that decide our trajectory. There’s been quite a few in a short amount of time lately. Great turnouts for Fish Fry Town Halls, earned media and the endorsement of Forum Communications gave us momentum going into Thursday night’s live televised debate with our current Congressperson. There was a lot riding on that broadcast. We didn’t get any questions beforehand and we weren’t allowed any notes. I’m proud of our preparation and execution. It wasn’t a resounding victory, however, I’m quite confident we won the day, again.  One post debate headline read, “OSBERG TAKES AIM, FISCHBACH DEFENDS.” I’ll take it. You can watch the debate here.

Our hope is that we showed voters, on both sides of the aisle, that they have a legitimate choice. I believe we accomplished that.

The third quarter FEC reports are out, & the contrast tells you everything about these two campaigns. We raised $206,939 from individual donors in July, August & September — from people just like you. Rep. Fischbach raised $339,254 total, but $225,000 of that came from PACs, meaning only $114,254 came from individuals. We out-raised her pert near 2 to 1 among actual people & we still haven’t taken a dime of corporate PAC money. And we’re not going to. Elected officials should be beholden to the people, not profit. Our goal is to raise at least another $25,000 between now & election day to invest in even more name recognition.

So here’s where we stand. A little over two weeks until the midterms. We’ve got a chip, a chair & a chance — & what happens next is up to all of us. We have now completed 31 Fish Fry Town Halls. Only 7 to go. We have 2 coming up this week, four the following week, and the grand finale will be Nov. 2nd in Wadena where this journey started.

Saturday, Oct. 24th is another big day. Our goal is to have crews knocking doors in every county of Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District. We’d love to have you join us. If you can’t knock, call. If you can’t call, write a letter or talk to a neighbor who hasn’t made a plan to vote yet. Early voting is open right now. Finish strong. Let’s win another day. We can do better.

ENDORSEMENT: The Alliance for Retired Americans

PROUD TO BE ENDORSED: The Alliance for Retired Americans

Big news out of western Minnesota: Erik Osberg has earned the endorsement of the Alliance for Retired Americans, an organization representing more than 4.4 million retirees & older Americans nationwide, including over 92,334 members right here in Minnesota.

Their reasoning? Erik’s commitment to the retirement our seniors have worked a lifetime to earn: strengthening & expanding Medicare & Social Security, protecting those programs from cuts & privatization, lowering drug prices, securing pensions, & ensuring quality long-term care.

Health care is a human right & that doesn’t stop when you retire. Our seniors built the communities we call home. They’ve earned a representative who will show up & fight to protect what they’ve paid into their whole lives.

We’re grateful for this endorsement. We can do better.

A Look Back

31 counties down, 7 to go.
The rooms keep getting bigger.

Three Fish Fry Town Halls this week & the rooms keep getting bigger. Well over 100 people turned out in Morris for Stevens County. Roughly 100 came out in Marshall for Lyon County, with a lot of first-time attendees — huge thanks to Team Schmig, the Lyon County DFL & our volunteers. Then Kandiyohi County about knocked me over. Over 235 people packed in at Spurs Grill & Bar in Willmar. Just blown away by the support. Huge thanks to the local DFL unit, all the volunteers, & the staff at Spurs & Intuition Brewing for the hospitality.

In between it was doors & neighbors. We knocked doors in neighborhoods and SMSU dorms in Marshal,, & I stopped by the demonstration downtown. I was also honored to be at the Hmong New Year celebration, where they gave me the stage to introduce myself, wish everyone a happy new year, & thank them for the hospitality. All are welcome. That’s not a slogan out here, it’s how these communities actually work.

Then Thursday night I was in front of the cameras. I started that debate with gratitude, I ended it with gratitude, & I’m carrying that same feeling into these last two weeks. 31 counties down, 7 to go. Seven more rooms, seven more chances to break bread with neighbors before November 3rd. We’ve got a chip, a chair, & a chance. Finish strong. We can do better.

A great house party in Glenwood, MN with a special appearance by Luna the Campaign Dog.

Hmong New Year celebration. I was honored with an opportunity to have the stage to introduce myself, wish everyone a Happy New Year, and thank them for the hospitality.
